Every year during the holiday season, the Excel Marketing team celebrates the season by giving back. Traditionally, each team member selects one or two charities to donate to. This year, the team decided to consolidate efforts in order to make a bigger impact. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, unemployment and food insecurity soared. In 2020, over 60 million people turned to food banks and community programs for help putting food on the table. (source) Even though 2021 was slightly better, resources were depleted. According to the USDA, more than 38 million people, including 12 million children, in the United States are food insecure.

But, after looking at the statistics, we decided to ban together and make one big contribution to Feeding America. Hunger and food insecurity can affect people from all walks of life. This year especially, we felt it was important to make the biggest impact we can to help fill pantries. Our contribution is small in comparison to what we have recieved from you all year long. Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. They support food banks, food pantries, and meal programs with food, funds, and advocacy. Together, they reach 40 million people in need of food every year.
